The Red Stockings opened the series against the Statesmen with a win. It was done with pitching as Elston D'Amico allowed only 1 run in 5 innings and the bullpen picked up right where he left off. Tony Moreno hit his 3rd homerun of the season and also had an rbi single. Fernando Castro recorded his 5th save in as many games, although it was a bit shaky as he had runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs and big hitter Clayton Simmons at the plate, but was able to get Simmons to pop out to Yorvit Castro.

The Red Stockings completed the sweep of the series with their 3rd 5-3 win against Arizona. Barry Enders threw 6 innings, giving up 3 runs and striking out 6. Arizona's runs came in the 2nd and 3rd inning, 2 coming from a homerun by Bennie Rivera in the 2nd. The bullpen was lights out again, only allowing 1 hit in the final 3 innings, with Fernando Castro getting his 4 save in as many games. Moreno knocked in 2 runs, while Cruz, Trunk and Rosario each finished with an rbi.

The Stockings were down 3-0 in the 5th until Andres Cruz hit a rbi single and Tony Moreno smacked a 3-run homer down the left field line to bring the team ahead 4-3. Moreno later had a bloop single that scored Cruz. The bullpen shutout Arizona for the final 2 innings, Fernando Castro getting his 3rd save of the season with a perfect 9th.

The Red Stockings salvaged a win in the final game of the series off a 5 inning shutout performance by Elston D'Amico. Tony Moreno homered and drove in 2, and Donnie Trunk also had an rbi. The bullpen was very effective for the final 4 innings, the Seals' lone run coming off a single by Tyler Springer off Adam Shoeneweis. Fernando Castro notched his first save of the season and Santos Santana was cedited with the win, his first career with St. Louis.

Barry Enders no-hit the Seals for 5 innings, but couldn't keep the pace as he was chased from the 6th giving up 4 runs. The Stockings were similarly dominated as they saw a great debut by Rafael Castilla who shut them out for 7 innings until scoring 3 runs in the 8th. Trunk, Rosario and Alston each finished with an rbi.

The Red Stockings looked great early, scoring 4 runs in the 1st inning off Mark Daly. They couldn't hold the lead though, giving up 7 runs in the in the 5th inning on. Darryl French's first start for the Red Stockings is one that he will try to forget. He shut out the Seals for the first 4 innings, then it all fell apart in the 5th and 6th, as the Seals scored 4 runs to tie the game. Louie Rosario hit the Red Stockings' first homerun of the season, while knocking in 2 runs. Cruz, Trunk, and Castro each finished with an rbi.
